Community Engagement
Marine knowledge is held not only in institutions. Fishers, divers, swimmers, boat operators and coastal residents observe the sea continuously, and that observation has value.
Public education
Public education is the starting point of community engagement. Talks, explanatory notes and question-and-answer sessions allow people to test what they already believe about the sea against established knowledge.
Participation and local knowledge
People who use a stretch of coast regularly often notice change before it is measured. The Foundation is interested in recording such observations carefully, with clear attribution and without treating anecdote as measurement.
Youth engagement
Young people in Malta grow up with the sea close at hand. Engagement with schools, youth groups and students is intended to turn that familiarity into understanding, and to show that marine work is an ordinary field that people can enter.
Cooperation and knowledge sharing
The Foundation is open to cooperation with schools, voluntary organisations, community groups and individuals whose aims and standards are compatible with its own. Enquiries about cooperation can be sent through the contact page.
No community partnerships are listed on this website. Cooperation will be published only where it exists and both parties agree to its publication.
