The following are the Foundation's areas of organisational focus. They describe where the Foundation directs attention and method. Specific activities are published only once they are confirmed.

- Support for the protection of marine habitats and biodiversity through knowledge and awareness.

- Attention to how coastal activity, economy and marine health can be reconciled over time.
- Scientific and educational knowledge
- Translating established marine science into material that non-specialists can use.
- Community engagement
- Working with coastal communities, volunteers and interested residents.
- Public awareness
- Public-facing communication that informs without exaggeration.
- Environmental responsibility
- Encouraging practical everyday choices that reduce pressure on the marine environment.
- Marine heritage and knowledge
- The maritime relationship between Mediterranean communities and the sea, and the knowledge it produced.

How these areas are applied
Areas of work are not a list of running projects. They describe the scope within which the Foundation accepts, plans and carries out activity. When an activity is confirmed, it is published in News & Updates and, where relevant, under Programmes & Initiatives.
